Ecotique - Hair Salon & Beauty
This is a salon I used a lot until recently. I found the hairstylists to be well trained and sweet. They were using primarily Aveda products but were recently purchased by a National Chain/Hotel - Carlton Hair so they are plugging some other products too now.
Located in Carmel Valley in the shopping Center on Del Mar Heights rd, they are convenient if you live in the area. But, pricey. And, also, it can be tough to get appointments. An annoyance for me as I don’t have a lot of flexibilty in my schedule.

I recently went to Little Locks in Carmel Valley. What a great experience! It is a toy boutique/children’s hair salon. They also have one in Bird Rock, La Jolla. They have little cars for the kids to sit in and have movies like Thomas the Train and Happy Feet for the kids to watch when they’re getting their hair cut. They have video games for the bigger kids. The stylists are really nice and blow bubbles for the kids and distract them if they don’t like getting their hair cut. The prices are reasonable and the toys are similar to those sold at Gipettos. It is decorated really cute too. Murals on the walls and kids music playing in the background. We are definately going back. It was my daughter’s first haircut and they gave me a cute certificate and keepsake with a lock of her hair.
