There are a variety of places to go to either get a new passport or renew one. The offices can be searched for at this page: http://iafdb.travel.state.gov/ But, basically, you can do this in the Post Offices for Del Mar, Sorrento Valley, Solana Beach and La Jolla among others in town. You need to check this page though for the hours. Some offices require an appointment.
Its amazing to me that the location for our Post Office in Carmel Valley is actually down on Sorrento Valley blvd. But, that’s where it is. So, if you’re like me and you don’t get to your mail fast enough in the box and it fills up…they take it down to the post office for pick up.

If you need stamps you can buy them of course at the local grocery stores in the check out line. But, if you need to mail something over-size and don’t want to send it UPS or FedEx, you’ll have to go to this location or there is a small Post Office location in the Hallmark at the Vons shopping centre on Valley Centre as well.
