We are always on the lookout for a good schwarma in town. You haven’t lived until you’ve tasted an authentic, fresh schwarma.
Beef/lamb combination roasted on a spit, with fresh cucumber, tomato, pickle, inside a fresh pita or laafa (flatbread) with chummus spread inside is to die for. And hard to find. We always stop in LA for one if we’re on our way home from a trip up north.
Some local europeans missing the Kebab houses in their native Germany, decided to open one here in downtown San Diego. We visited last night. It was tasty. Not exactly the same, but good.
The schwarma tastes closer to a gyro than a traditional middle eastern schwarma. They serve the sandwich with a cucumber/garlic sauce which is good and some cabbage in the salad too. The fries are excellent here too. Like pomme frites - crispy and thin. Yum.
They serve theirs in a tortilla which still seems odd to me, but is apparently traditional in their Kebab houses. But, the flavors were good, it was fresh and the location is nice.
This is a great stop if you’re catching a Padres game as its walking distance from there.
