Part-Time Work

Check out Simply Hired jobs on San Diego Mom.  Am I missing your job/field? Let me know and I’ll add it to our categories.  Send email to sandiegomom@jenniestarr.com to let me know your profession/area of interest.  I’ll make sure there is a filter to capture those local jobs.

If you are an employer, post your job with us to find talented parents in San Diego.  http://sandiegomom.jobamatic.com/a/jbb/post-job

Simply Hired pulls jobs from all the boards, company web sites, magazines, newspapers and more.  They hunt for the jobs, and pull them into one place. Craiglist jobs are included…virtually every resource you can think of and those you don’t know of too.

Then, they offer filters like Part-time jobs, contract jobs, great jobs for Moms, highly rated companies for working Moms, etc.  I’ve written about them on San Diego Mom and have written a review in my column in Searcher Magazine on them as well.  A bit of the column appears here.

Parents, you can try out Simply Hired’s existing jobs by clicking on our San Diego Mom Board at: http://sandiegomom.jobamatic.com/a/jbb/find-jobs

Part-Time Work

One of the better search engines for jobs these days is Simply Hired.  They aggregate everything from job postings in major newspapers, job boards like Monster, random corporate web site "Employment" page listings and specialty trade publications into one alert service and integrate amazing filters to help you find the opportunity you want.

http://www.simplyhired.com/ One thing I really like is their use of a part-time job filter.  They also have a filter for The Working Mother 100 Best companies so that if you think they as a magazine do a good job of recommending family friendly companies this filter will narrow your result down to only those companies in their list. Other filters include Fortune 500 and Forbes 400, non-profit companies.

Like most sites of this kind, you can set up an alert to send you new jobs fitting certain criteria to your e-mail.

A second site that I like is http://www.indeed.com - works the same way, aggregating all the variety of sources that offer jobs.  You can similarly refine your search by part-time filters but they don’t offer as many helpful filters like the Fortune lists, etc.

Part-Time Work

This is a great place to hunt for part-time jobs in Carmel Valley and the San Diego metro area at large. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/

Since they are charging now for job ads, they’ve weeded out the majority of the work at home scams.

Part-Time Work

I recently wrote a column (Disclosure: Searcher Magazine) about two job search sites that are terrific.  Both work the same way: they aggregate jobs from web site employment areas, boards like monster and others, newspapers, forums, and more.

The other advantage is they filter the opportunities by really helpful filters like part-time, top 100 recommended by Forbes or Working Mother, you get the idea. They offer of course alerts you can set up to get jobs via e-mail.

The key to these vs Monster or others is they are not being paid to post any particular jobs.  You are literally just getting a helping had from having to do all that searching in all those places on your own.

Check them out when you have a chance.  Use the advanced search option to filter or limit your search to part-time only.
