San Diego Polo Club

Looking for something different to do with your family on a Sunday afternoon?  Check out the San Diego Polo Club and take in a match.  The club is located off of El Camino Real near Via De La Valle in Del Mar.

Tickets are only $5 (plus $5 for parking) and children 12 and under don’t pay.   We attended a match in late August and had an amazing time.  The action is close so you can see the match well.  The announcers are great.  There is food to purchase, or room and tables to picnic and bring your own food.  Parking is great complete with a ride on a golf cart to your picnic area.  A live band capped off the evening. A jumpy for kids is there too.  Don’t miss the half-time divot stomping - the kids love to run out on the field.

My group arrived at 3 and the last of us reluctantly left around 8 at sundown.  We had a great time. Visit their web site to learn more about watching a polo match.  Matches are typically around 1:00 and 3:00 pm.

Sports - Leagues

I loved this option for 4-5 yr olds. Its actually a baseball league for this age group that permits some instruction, opportunities to step up to the plate, games, etc. But, they are very low key on the competition allowing for outs when you’re up to bat, but managing somehow to have all teams come out winners.

We haven’t participated ourselves, but I have my eye on it for my son when he’s the right age.  It seems to be a popular choice as they’ve filled their teams quickly.  If you’re interested, sign up when you hear about registration.  Don’t wait.
